January 2006: When The Bills Ask For This

Going 1-7 in his last eight games got Dick Jauron his contract extension through 2011. I could not be more upset as a Bills fan. Dick Jauron has never had major success as a Head Coach, as noted by his career 56-74 record. The Bills fumbled the ball back in January 2006 when they hired Dick Jauron. The real man for the job never got the chance he should've. Mike Sherman had recently been fired by Green Bay (Jan 2, 2006) and with his supurb 57-39 record over 5 seasons should've been our next head coach. Dick Jauron has never been able to light a fire under his players and motivate them into a playoff caliber team and this is evidence of this season. His lackluster approach on the field and poor playcalling have cost the Bills. Three consecutive runs with Jackson at the goaline, Calling short routes on 3rd and sixes, and lastly calling for a pass under two minutes with the lead after the Bills were running all over the Jets!!!! EVERY BUFFALO FAN COULD FORESEE WHAT HAPPENED SUNDAY WHEN JP DROPPED BACK TO PASS!!!!

Now that Dick is back, I plead for him to go out and get an Offensive Coordinator with some Sense!!! Bon Voyage Turk

The Forgotten Team

The tides have turned on West Texas very fast. First I am still surprised that very few are talking about how Texas Tech landed in the Non-BCS Cotton Bowl. Texas Tech went from a Number 2 ranking in Week 5 of the BCS Standings. Dropping to number 7 and closing off the season with a only one loss to Oklahoma the eventual number 1 in the final BCS Standings. Now I understand that was a blowout to an Oklahoma team that was ranked in the top 5. However Texas Tech dethroned the number Texas and ran through the rest of the Big 12, the BEST conference this season. My argument lies within the selection of Ohio State, who lost to co-big ten champ Penn State, but played in a mediocre conference this season. Now I am not calling for a Texas vs. Texas Tech match up in the Fiesta. I think something was missed here by the Sugar Bowl selection. If anyone had watched the SEC championship game they would have seen an amazing football game that took the entire game time to proclaim a winner. Why would they not want Alabama to face off with another Spread Offense high powered offensive team. Lastly a match up between Texas and Utah would be a better watch then seeing the Buckeyes just get trounced again by a powerful team.

One last thing out of Lubbock, Graham Harrel not getting any love for the Heisman?? I urge you to just take a look at his stats, an invite would have been the right thing to do.

Congrats to the University of Buffalo Bulls for making its awesome run to the MAC championship. I am certain that Turner Gill will be out of Buffalo by mid January. He deserves a BCS head coaching job.

Skiman's Point Of Emphasis:

Dick Jauron takes the blame, oh wait the players take the blame, oops my bad the front office said it was there fault. Your all to blame!!! 6 points the last 2 weeks!!!

Lindy Ruff bashes Ryan Miller and the Sabres start to win again. I didn't know a player getting a large pay check needed anything else to play for.

Thomas Vanek was a wanted man last year after the Sabres shelled out Loads of cash to get few goals in return. His second year in the contract looks to be his best as he is leading the league is goals scored.

The Yankees are pulling 160 million dollar deals for C.C. Sabathia.
The NFL losses 150 jobs at their headquarters.
The Arena Football League ceases to play in 2009.
The MLS is in a drary financial situation.
The LPGA and PGA are losing Licensing Agreements.
Follow what I am saying.

The Bowl (exhibition) Season Is Here!

It is that time of year my fellow college sports fans. The time when teams rebel around these grand bowl games to just expand the monetary values of their colleges. It's BOWL SEASON! We all know that all these other crap ass bowl games mean nothing other then the BCS Bowl games and even some of them mean shit. Sure there are the intriguing headlines of Snead coming back to Texas with his Ole Miss squad to face off with Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. The University of Buffalo Bulls making their first Bowl appearance in the International Bowl. Lastly a showdown of Running Back powers with Michigan State's Ringer against Georgia's Moreno in the Capital One Bowl. As for some of these other bowl games the match-ups are a waste of tv time. I for one am for a playoff system. It not only will garnish who the best team is but further give the opportunity to the Non-BCS teams. Therefore I have come up with a playoff format utilizing my poll. I have taken each of the conference champions (11) and picked at large teams (5) to fill a sixteen team playoff format. The five at large teams were picked by using the BCS standings.

My playoff tree would look something like this:

1 Oklahoma vs. 16 Troy

8 Texas Tech vs. 9 Boise State

3 Alabama vs. 14 Virginia Tech

6 Penn State vs. 11 Cincinnati

4 Texas vs. 13 East Carolina

5 USC vs. 12 TCU

2 Florida vs. 15 Buffalo

7 Utah vs. 10 Ohio State

In this playoff there would be no reseeding and follow as the bracket goes. As you can see some interesting match ups arise from the seeding. Along with this it will only take 4 weeks to play the playoffs in whole.

I for one think this would be much more exciting rather then waiting a month to get to my championship game which by that time may have lost its fire. Having a playoff will keep every fan interested week in and week out. And as for those bowl games the final 2 weeks can use those precious bowl sites. So the first week can be at the larger seeded site and quarterfinal, semifinal, and finals (7 total sites) can be played at Cotton Bowl, Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Gator Bowl, Capital One Bowl.

I hope this adds to your intrigue on this Bowl Season or as I call it an expanded Exhibition Season.

Another BCS Blunder...

This has been an odd week in sports. College footballs BCS fumbles again as Oklahoma beats out Texas to play for the Big 12 Championship game. The Big 12 needs to take note from the SEC on tie breaking procedures. (In the instance of a three way tie it goes to the highest ranked BCS standings; from there if two teams are separated by five spots or less it reverts back to a head to head match) In this tiebreak Texas receives the trip to Kansas City to play Missouri. This weekend can only make for more havoc if there are upsets. Is it possible to have Three Big 12 teams in BCS games?? We could find out.

The NFL again is going through some touchy problems, dealing with Plaxico Burress. The playoff pictures are still blurry as many divisions are still very close. The New York Giants seem to be the only sure fired team to win their division along with the Titans. Lastly the New Orleans Saints need to clean up there Steroids act. Three more players are suspended from this team. Lastly to my anonymous commenter about the J-E-T-S. I'm sorry to tell you that the Jets story will most likely end the same way most of Mr.Favre's playoff novels ended. He'll blow it some how with some scrappy late interception blowing the Jets chances.

I am excited for my blog after the BCS final standings come out. 1. I will be putting a nice little college football playoff together. I believe it will be based on the standings. Along with a possible one where all conference champs are involved. I ask you for your incite on which one you would like or if you want both.

City of Shit November Sports

What happened???!!! It was looking so good out of the gate at 5-1. We were throwing efficiently, we were running well, we hand our coach a nice contract extension. And then..... WHAM The Bills get rolled 3 consecutive weeks by Division opponents and lose to the lowly Cleveland Browns on National Television. Why did we ever hand over a contract extension to Jauron!? We praised mediocrity in what could be described as one of the easiest first 5 games in the league. And we needed the 4th quarter to win most of them. "Let's reward the coach and his great staff". I have to ask also "Where is Turk getting these play calls"?! I loved seeing little Fred Jackson trying to plow his way into the end zone 3 consecutive times. DID NOT WORK And Trent Edwards needs to wake up. Maybe stop being a giant tool and checking off to Robert Royal and Fred Jackson. Maybe he can man up and actually throw the ball down field and take a risk, I'd respect an INT down field then one of his pussy out routes to the sideline being picked off for 6 the other way. Lynch finally snapped out of it and ran the way he should be each week. For the sake of Buffalo they need to turn it around against the Chiefs and 49ers. If they lose to both or even one of these Teams, it's over for the Bills and we can say those ass hole words. "maybe next year"

Now the Sabres. 6-0-1 wow what a start. Miller looked unbeatable, we were scoring, we were defending, the Sabres were shutting up every doubter.
"Will the Real Sabres Please Stand Up"
And here they come the typical Sabres, coming out with a flurry of wins, and hitting the skids in the months of November. For as long as I can remember Buffalo has been a terrible Mid-Season team. They love to start and finish, but November and December forget it. They will still post wins. But this time around this is embarrassing. Ryan Miller has had more people score on him in the last two games than a Hooker on the corner of Perry and Washington Street. It's not long before we will see the newest injury report of him having neck problems from looking back in the net constantly. Lastly when we will part ways with Injury Prone Tim Connoly, he as awesome when he plays but I already went through an era with a pansy like this on the ice. (ie. Pat LaFontaine...who by the way was amazing when he played). This team is in a competitive division in the conference and cannot slip to far behind.

Dear Readers I thrive off your comments on any sports topic. Please leave comments.

FINALLY!!!

It has finally happened. Syracuse has fired Greg Robinson putting an end to one of, if not the worst thing to happen to Syracuse University Football. A 9-36 record over his tenure at Syracuse has damaged what once was a proud program. Having only won 3 times in the Big East SU has become a laughing stock in college football. It has been disappointing to see this program take a fall. I hope that Syracuse will make a wise decision in picking their next coach for the program. I'm sure Lane Kiffin will be mentioned but I hope that's not the case. I would suggest they look in the conference. UCONN's Coach Edsall and Cincy's Coach Kelly would be a good fit. Also as much as I would not want Turner Gill to leave Buffalo I believe he may get a look. Main thing is they need a recruiter someone who can get this program back to prominence.

Congrats to UB for becoming Bowl Eligible this week.

Rich Rod I hope you have something better for next year. This season's "THE GAME" against Ohio State seems like it will be a laugher. It saddens me.

Bills Prediction:

Bills 24 Browns 13

BCS Poll Points

First off I want to apoligize to my readers. I did not come out with my weekend outlook, rather I choose to observe this weekend and then make some comments.

What an interesting weekend on the college gridiron. Iowa's shocker against Penn State, OT needed for Alabama to escape in Baton Rouge, and Texas Tech flexing their muscles against OK State. Sundays are always the best because you get to see the new rankings in the BCS. This week not much of a change other then Penn State Sinking. Few things I did notice when looking over the BCS rankings:

1. The Big 12 and SEC arguably the two best conferences hold the top 5 spots. I am in love with this right now. The problem that lies in this would be those sneaky boys out in Southern California. Sitting in 6th. USC can still make it into the BCS championship game but will need some help. And thier help comes in the form of a Big 12 Championship game. Missouri owns the Big 12 North and to whoever they play, if they are to win will leave a one loss USC team to climb up high in the rankings.

2. I HATE that in most fan polls and the USA TODAY and AP Top 25 poll that Florida is ahead of Texas. WHAT GIVES!!! I'm sorry Texas lost to Texas Tech ( the number 2 team now) in a last play magic by Harrell and Crabtree. Now Florida lost to an UNRANKED Ole Miss team.... I'll say it again UNRANKED. Enough said Texas is ahead of them in the BCS but the margin between them should be bigger.

3. One last thing for the Non BCS teams. That sucks for all of you. Win, win, and win some more. Utah (undeafeted), Boise State (undefeated, Ball State (undefeated), sorry you guys can't get any love in the rankings. I guess a 2 lose BCS team has something you don't.

I want to give a Hooyah!!! To the UB Bulls one victory away from Bowl Eligible, Next two games on the road where they are 1-3 but I hope they can get it done. Keep rolling Turner Gill.

The 21.9 Million Dollar Job

Its election today in the United States. Now I will not be saying anything crazy, just exercise your right to vote.

Now in the great world of sports and society, IT Has Happened!!! (Cue FanFare of Horns) Getting paid to sit on your ass. Yes it is herear, the New York Knicks have been generous enough to still pay Stephon Marbury 21.9 Million dollars to sit on the knick bench. Dressed in his jersey of course you say, NO!!! Being the inactive player that he is right now, he is wearing street clothes. I speak for all of us who say CONGRATS, lets be honest who hasn't dreamt of this job. And whats wrong with our economy??? Exactly.

Skiman Squibs:

Martin Brodeur will need surgery and be out 3-4 months. Now delaying him owning those all-time goalie records.

The Buffalo Bills keep looking worse and worse each week. But we are Billievers.

Michigan football will not be in a Bowl game for the first time in 33 years. This was not a surprise for this Wolverines fan.

Texas Tech hurdled its way to number 2 in the BCS, past Penn State. I ask the computers to put a Coaching Age consideration in their calculations. THE MAN IS A LEGEND. (Joe Pa)

Brady Quinn finally gets the call to be the starter in Cleveland, Good news for him. And good news for Derek Anderson that it happened AFTER Cleveland made him a rich man.

Lastly my "Bone Head Of The Week":

The Detroit Pistons trading for Iverson. I see no way that this trade helped the Pistons in any way. The Denver Nuggets just got stronger in the west by getting a true point guard.

The Lonestar Showdown

The premier game this weekend in college football will be Texas Tech playing host to number 1 Texas. Mike Leach and Texas Tech can take their biggest step this weekend by taking down Texas. Tune into to watch Colt McCoy battle Graham Harrell in what should be a high scoring affair in Lubbock. This is just the start though for Texas Tech who will face Oklahoma State and Oklahoma in the coming weeks. If Texas happens to win this game, I have to say they are a sure fit for the Big 12 championship game and then the BCS championship game. (They play Baylor, Kansas, and Texas A&M) I saw Texas run out of some gas last weekend against Oklahoma State. This will be a prime time show is West Texas.

Georgia danced there way to beating Florida last year in this bitter rival game. This year the Gators are looking for some revenge. Mark Richt has Georgia on the up though. I feel that the O-Line is finally coming around to protecting Stafford like they should be and Moreno is being Moreno. I believe this game will be a close battle as it always is. In the end I see Georgia coming out and getting a lift over USC in the BCS rankings.

With the Ohio State game behind them, the question is now can Penn State outlast the rest of their Big Ten schedule. As of now the biggest problem seems to be the Michigan State game in late November. I hope the Nittany Lions can push their way into the BCS championship game (depends on a Texas or Alabama loss). This Lions have this weekend off.

Rant Of The Day:

Syracuse plays Louisville this weekend. Greg Robinson must be pleased to see a Big East team he actually beat come into the Carrier Dome. I don't see this being a repeat of last years 38-35 win by Syracuse. So when the Orange finish with Maybe 2 wins this season. We will see a departure of Greg Robinson, or a departure of more season ticket holders. SU you have a choice.

Hands Down The Best Time To Be A Sports Fan

It is late October going into November, if you are flipping around those channels whinning and moaning that nothing is on? YOU ARE BLIND!!!! This is probably the best time to be a sports fan right now. You have everything at your fingertips. The NBA opens up its season tonight. A Ewing'less Knicks begin their new quest to get hopefully 30 wins this year. The NHL is well into its season. Don't tell me these games don't count when you miss the playoffs by one point because some bum player on the lowly Blue Jackets pin-pointed his shootout shot 11 men into the shutout over your goalies glove. (they all count) The NFL season week in and week out has more turmoil in it and only one team that I've seen so far stepping up and just winning. (Titans are undefeated thus far) Major League Baseball, Need I Say More, this World Series that no one expected has been more of a Soap Opera than "Guiding Light". Where else can you see ear flaps hanging over baseball caps and Jimmy Rollins hauling into the infield trying to field a routine pop-up in the treacherous Game 5 weather. And now my favorites, College Football and Basketball. I mention basketball yes because they have started there practices and the news articles are coming out and before you know we will have Dick Vitale shouting his sweet voice into our living rooms. College Football, again another awesome weekend will be upon us where we will have BCS implications on the line.

I say to all sports fans, cherish this time you have with all these sports going on. Enjoy the suspense that each sport offers. (we will finally get to see "Grandpa" Greg Oden in a regular season game) Cherish my friends, cherish

Squashed By The Fish and Some More Rants

Congrats to Dick Jauron you got that nice extension from the Buffalo Bills. Smart move for the Bills who for the early part of the season were playing better than this Bills fan expected. Let's be honest, to be tied with New England eight weeks into the season, I am happy. However that does not mean I was happy with the performance of the Bills on Sunday. Couple things to note: 1. Lets get back to tackling hard, wrapping the players up and applying pressure to the QB. 2. We have Mr.Lynch as our RB. HAND HIM THE BALL. Fred Jackson twice inside the five early in the game killed us (we got a FG), and on third downs maybe a QB sneak isnt always smart. 3. Play four quarters for once, its been awhile since i have needed to watch the first half of a Bills game, Let's be honest they only come out in the 4th.

I have some other things to rant about now:

Major League Baseball thank you for your wonderful call Saturday night of starting the game at 10:06 after a Rain Delay. I love baseball especially world series baseball. But come on I couldn't keep my eyes open much past 1:00 to finish the great game 3.

Awesome Awesome Awesome, with the big Penn State Win. I will not have to watch Ohio State get distroyed in the BCS championship game let alone a BCS game.

If no one heard it please go and check it out on Youtube.com: Mike Singletary's press conference was one to remember when he went on about how he wants winners. Good to see a coach pushing these pro players.

Last rant of the night, the NFL rule book: Though I was pleased this played into the favor of the Philadelphia Eagles, I must say a rule change needs to be made. The mufed punt call where the player clearly did not touch the ball, and was ruled an Eagle football. Was not reviewable by Mike Smith, the Falcon's Head Coach, because he was out of Time Outs. My thoughts: the NFL should take notes from College Football and open up Booth Review at any point and time in the game NOT just under 2 mins of play. Instant replay was put in to fix errors well this error went unfixed and the Eagles ran away with the game. Literally because Brian Westbrook ran the next play for a TD.

Put On That TV and Watch

Now here we go again this weekend with some more big games to watch and the hype of the BCS starting. I have to say I hope things work out better this year then last year's games (the ohio state massacre II) and two year's ago (ohio state massacre I). With that said, it's interesting to see that the Polls have so many Big 12 teams ranked high, why not it makes their wins significant. The knowledge already in hand that the SEC is strong and the Big 12 as I mentioned above sets up a nice BCS championship game SEC versus Big 12. Now of course being the Big Ten fan I am I would love love love to see Penn State run the table and make it to the BCS. Ok so with that rant out of the way my game of the week.

Penn State vs. Ohio State - 8pm ABC
Check into this the HD offense against a stubborn ohio state squad. So Ohio State lost to USC and they have a freshman QB (there offensive captain is on the bench by the way). And so what if Penn State has trouble after trouble with there players and Joe Pa may be coaching from the box again.(we all know he is a poster coach now a days). I have to say though I believe the HD offense of Penn State will rally hard around their troubles and thier coach. The defense will need to contain the duel threat of Pryor. This game will, I mean will decide the big ten title. The atmosphere at Ohio Stadium will be wild I can guarantee that.

A must sees:

Texas vs. Oklahoma State 3:30 pm

Now after watching Colt lead Texas over Oklahoma its simple, he will do the same against Ok State. I'm keeping this one short. Texas will keep rolling in the Big 12 and survive this week.

Georgia vs. LSU 3:30

Remember Georgia? the preseason #1. yeah thats right come on people they are still in the race now. I believe this will be a close game, well what SEC game isn't right... Moreno will run strong in this one and if Stafford gets some protection we are talking a Win and a move up in the rankings for Georgia. Les Miles is misleading as a coach though and always has a trick up his sleeve. A game I will be watching listening to Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson on CBS. of course only during commercials in between my Michigan vs. Michigan State game.

Last words for the weekend:

To my fellow Michigan fans. Please lets be patient with Coach Rich Rod. Sure I want nothing then to win right now and sure Pryor left us hanging. The man has a system that will work, let him get his players. Oh and we have a Big Ten win, and Wisconsin a big ten preseason fav, doesn't. Sorry Badger fans.

Note to Syracuse:

A piss poor record in a weak Big East, and a 7-31 record. Good god please wake up and realize this isn't a good relationship. And fire Greg Robinson.

This Is A Start

So this is real simple I come on here and put my incite into such topics of sporting events, major games, major controversies, basically anything about the sporting world that I feel should be said. Right?? Good so that's what this will be. It's real simple everyone has there opinion, some call into the Jim Rome show and make there cases. Some call into there local sports guys to get there voice heard. Well I figured I would create my own means of bitching about different issues such as Adam Jones checking into AA, or the poor ratings this Great World Series will have, or Wade Phillips falling on his face in Dallas.

As stated in my blog I have showcased my favorite teams. Most stories will revolve around the coverage of these teams. But don't be short sided I will cover other crazy and wild sports topics. I want viewers to be opinionated in there comments. Again I'm not Mr.Radio man who will hang up on you in mid sentence if you disagree with me. Arguing anything is about disagreeing.

With that said enjoy what will be upcoming. Oh and Jerry Jones, let's move on in Dallas and can Wade and his wide neck sweaters.
