January 2006: When The Bills Ask For This

Going 1-7 in his last eight games got Dick Jauron his contract extension through 2011. I could not be more upset as a Bills fan. Dick Jauron has never had major success as a Head Coach, as noted by his career 56-74 record. The Bills fumbled the ball back in January 2006 when they hired Dick Jauron. The real man for the job never got the chance he should've. Mike Sherman had recently been fired by Green Bay (Jan 2, 2006) and with his supurb 57-39 record over 5 seasons should've been our next head coach. Dick Jauron has never been able to light a fire under his players and motivate them into a playoff caliber team and this is evidence of this season. His lackluster approach on the field and poor playcalling have cost the Bills. Three consecutive runs with Jackson at the goaline, Calling short routes on 3rd and sixes, and lastly calling for a pass under two minutes with the lead after the Bills were running all over the Jets!!!! EVERY BUFFALO FAN COULD FORESEE WHAT HAPPENED SUNDAY WHEN JP DROPPED BACK TO PASS!!!!

Now that Dick is back, I plead for him to go out and get an Offensive Coordinator with some Sense!!! Bon Voyage Turk

The Forgotten Team

The tides have turned on West Texas very fast. First I am still surprised that very few are talking about how Texas Tech landed in the Non-BCS Cotton Bowl. Texas Tech went from a Number 2 ranking in Week 5 of the BCS Standings. Dropping to number 7 and closing off the season with a only one loss to Oklahoma the eventual number 1 in the final BCS Standings. Now I understand that was a blowout to an Oklahoma team that was ranked in the top 5. However Texas Tech dethroned the number Texas and ran through the rest of the Big 12, the BEST conference this season. My argument lies within the selection of Ohio State, who lost to co-big ten champ Penn State, but played in a mediocre conference this season. Now I am not calling for a Texas vs. Texas Tech match up in the Fiesta. I think something was missed here by the Sugar Bowl selection. If anyone had watched the SEC championship game they would have seen an amazing football game that took the entire game time to proclaim a winner. Why would they not want Alabama to face off with another Spread Offense high powered offensive team. Lastly a match up between Texas and Utah would be a better watch then seeing the Buckeyes just get trounced again by a powerful team.

One last thing out of Lubbock, Graham Harrel not getting any love for the Heisman?? I urge you to just take a look at his stats, an invite would have been the right thing to do.

Congrats to the University of Buffalo Bulls for making its awesome run to the MAC championship. I am certain that Turner Gill will be out of Buffalo by mid January. He deserves a BCS head coaching job.

Skiman's Point Of Emphasis:

Dick Jauron takes the blame, oh wait the players take the blame, oops my bad the front office said it was there fault. Your all to blame!!! 6 points the last 2 weeks!!!

Lindy Ruff bashes Ryan Miller and the Sabres start to win again. I didn't know a player getting a large pay check needed anything else to play for.

Thomas Vanek was a wanted man last year after the Sabres shelled out Loads of cash to get few goals in return. His second year in the contract looks to be his best as he is leading the league is goals scored.

The Yankees are pulling 160 million dollar deals for C.C. Sabathia.
The NFL losses 150 jobs at their headquarters.
The Arena Football League ceases to play in 2009.
The MLS is in a drary financial situation.
The LPGA and PGA are losing Licensing Agreements.
Follow what I am saying.

The Bowl (exhibition) Season Is Here!

It is that time of year my fellow college sports fans. The time when teams rebel around these grand bowl games to just expand the monetary values of their colleges. It's BOWL SEASON! We all know that all these other crap ass bowl games mean nothing other then the BCS Bowl games and even some of them mean shit. Sure there are the intriguing headlines of Snead coming back to Texas with his Ole Miss squad to face off with Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. The University of Buffalo Bulls making their first Bowl appearance in the International Bowl. Lastly a showdown of Running Back powers with Michigan State's Ringer against Georgia's Moreno in the Capital One Bowl. As for some of these other bowl games the match-ups are a waste of tv time. I for one am for a playoff system. It not only will garnish who the best team is but further give the opportunity to the Non-BCS teams. Therefore I have come up with a playoff format utilizing my poll. I have taken each of the conference champions (11) and picked at large teams (5) to fill a sixteen team playoff format. The five at large teams were picked by using the BCS standings.

My playoff tree would look something like this:

1 Oklahoma vs. 16 Troy

8 Texas Tech vs. 9 Boise State

3 Alabama vs. 14 Virginia Tech

6 Penn State vs. 11 Cincinnati

4 Texas vs. 13 East Carolina

5 USC vs. 12 TCU

2 Florida vs. 15 Buffalo

7 Utah vs. 10 Ohio State

In this playoff there would be no reseeding and follow as the bracket goes. As you can see some interesting match ups arise from the seeding. Along with this it will only take 4 weeks to play the playoffs in whole.

I for one think this would be much more exciting rather then waiting a month to get to my championship game which by that time may have lost its fire. Having a playoff will keep every fan interested week in and week out. And as for those bowl games the final 2 weeks can use those precious bowl sites. So the first week can be at the larger seeded site and quarterfinal, semifinal, and finals (7 total sites) can be played at Cotton Bowl, Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Gator Bowl, Capital One Bowl.

I hope this adds to your intrigue on this Bowl Season or as I call it an expanded Exhibition Season.

Another BCS Blunder...

This has been an odd week in sports. College footballs BCS fumbles again as Oklahoma beats out Texas to play for the Big 12 Championship game. The Big 12 needs to take note from the SEC on tie breaking procedures. (In the instance of a three way tie it goes to the highest ranked BCS standings; from there if two teams are separated by five spots or less it reverts back to a head to head match) In this tiebreak Texas receives the trip to Kansas City to play Missouri. This weekend can only make for more havoc if there are upsets. Is it possible to have Three Big 12 teams in BCS games?? We could find out.

The NFL again is going through some touchy problems, dealing with Plaxico Burress. The playoff pictures are still blurry as many divisions are still very close. The New York Giants seem to be the only sure fired team to win their division along with the Titans. Lastly the New Orleans Saints need to clean up there Steroids act. Three more players are suspended from this team. Lastly to my anonymous commenter about the J-E-T-S. I'm sorry to tell you that the Jets story will most likely end the same way most of Mr.Favre's playoff novels ended. He'll blow it some how with some scrappy late interception blowing the Jets chances.

I am excited for my blog after the BCS final standings come out. 1. I will be putting a nice little college football playoff together. I believe it will be based on the standings. Along with a possible one where all conference champs are involved. I ask you for your incite on which one you would like or if you want both.
